African Masquerade Ceremony Workshop

January 12, 2019

This workshop is inspired by the theme of masquerade, ceremony, dance and the stories behind each dance.  Please join us for a day of collaborative masquerade  & costume making, dancing and story sharing.  If you have a story to share about dancing, ceremony or masquerade there will be a chance to sound record this or simply come along to get creative, and have fun.

The plan will be to spend 2 hours making a big masquerade (puppet).  This would include decorating a large piece of material with drawings and stories.  During this time there will be an opportunity to share stories around masquerade and dancing.

2 Hours choreographing a masquerade using our collaborative costume to traditional music, drumming, live music, and performing this at the end of the session.

Materials will be provided but please do bring additional materials or garments with you if you wish.
